"Living a Life of Wellness"

The name Mino-Ayâwin Pimêtisiwin is a Cree word that translates to someone who is living a life of wellness. Part of this name requires the ability to live a balanced life by paying attention to body, emotions, mind, and spirit. We hope this name will provide a good way to learn, grow, and heal as relatives work together.

About

Mino-Ayâwin Pimêtisiwin is a supportive place where ALL Community Members and Relatives can come feel welcome and supported in a low-barrier and judgement free environment. Our calendars come out monthly, indicating what programs and supports we offer and our hours of operation. Most of our programs are peer lead and all of them are free to attend.

Our programs and supports offered are designed by Relative and Community input, ensuring we meet the needs of those in our Community.

History

Mino-Ayâwin Pimêtisiwin was created and designed to fill in the gap of supports for those who are exiting or have come in contact with the western justice system(s). NCO was aware of this gap that our relatives face once leaving our reintegration facility and knew our relatives weren’t the only ones facing this problem. Mino-Ayâwin Pimêtisiwin officially opened its doors to referrals July 5, 2023, making it NCO’s newest and only Community Space. We fill in this gap at Mino-Ayâwin Pimêtisiwin by offering many meaningful supports and programs that are culturally focused, peer lead, and by meeting our relatives where they are at in in their journey.
